Why the "Writer's Kitchen"? Ever since I was a little girl, I've watched as my mother and her friends convened in the kitchen to talk and laugh and drink coffee and play domino games together. I've tied on an apron like my older sisters and baked snickerdoodles and peanut butter cookies and topped homemade pizza crusts with pepperoni, cheese, and spices, and on Sunday mornings I've woke up to the smell of warm coffee cake and rolls. To me, then, the kitchen has always been a special place, a place to create and carry out friendships! So, welcome to my Kitchen!

     Extra, Extra!

05/24/04 - It has been half a year since I came by here. I know this is likely to be my last update of this website. It served it's purpose, it had it's day. I enjoyed the creation of it, and now, it's time to let it sink into the verbiage from whence it came. I'm a college kid now. Just finished my first year on a local campus. I'm discovering new hobbies, discovering new people, but still mantaining friendships with the oldies, and believe it or not, still spending way too much time at the Ramblin' Irishman, or updating my blog(s). I also write for Apricot Pie now and again, and currently am working three part-time jobs. I wrote for a newspaper last year for a few months, and enjoyed the experience. I am braving new worlds now: the world of the Civil War Reeanctor, for one. I'm just dipping my toes in the water there. College is over for the summer, but the madness still lingers. I've been reading - well, devouring - new books. George MacDonald, Dostoevsky, Mrs. Mike, and Elizabeth Prentiss, to name a few.

I'm not as wild as I used to be about mountain biking, IM-ing friends and pretending to be cute and witty. In many ways the 'Netta who created the WK is gone, and just plain Martha is back to stay.

Well, I'm off. Thank you to all the loyal fans who stuck around this long, thanks to those who sent in writing to make this website happen and who gave it the community feel it had back in its day. Adios!

11/05/03 - Well, well, guess who decided to drop by! Your old Editor had nearly forgotten about the poor WK, until a few people discovered it by a link and sent some kind comments my way! I was inspired to do a little revising, and voila! Now... to post a few new writings for your enjoyment. I don't have time right now to completely revamp the site, but I may get around to it one of these - months - soon. By the way, I am now a published authoress! I have had an article accepted by a local newspaper. It's thrilling to finally be able to say, "Yes, I'm published!" And all before my 19th birthday... :-D

01/10/03 - The tenth day of a New Year brings a new story for you to enjoy: a short piece by a new contributor, Lady Beth! See Short Stories and have a good time reading this funny, ironic little tale (tall tale, mind you).

12/16/02 - I had to delete the Forum. I was blocked from deleting posts in it. (Grrr....) And there was a less-than-good post made in it, which I could not rid the place of. :( Therefore, no forum for now. :/

11/13/02 - There must be an appetite for good writing out there, because visitors keep coming to the WK!

10/8/02 - A new poem by the Country Boy! See Poems and enshoy eet!

9/18/02 - I just finished some polishing to the site...front page changes and what-not.
